“Super Mom”?
So I bought this “Super Mom” mug a couple of months ago. Its unique size, shape, and combination of my favorite colors all appealed to me, as well as the idea of waking up in the morning to this motivating statement. But then this “Super Mom” ‘label’ got me thinking..Is it actually a ‘label’ that some moms are entitled to while other moms do not deserve? Is it an elitist thing?
Maybe ten years ago, I would have had a totally different view of motherhood and of what it takes to be a “super mom”. Yet the more I grow into motherhood, the more and more I abandon the idea of there being a perfect standard against which we, mothers, should mark ourselves.
Each and every mom is a super mom in the eyes of her little ones. We are their everyday superheroes. The mom who doesn’t cook fancy desserts, the super mama, the mom who is not into arts and crafts, the homeschooling mom, the mom who sends her kids to school, working mom or stay-at-home mom, ALL are Super Moms in my opinion.
To be honest, it took me three children to start enjoying motherhood with all its hardships and chaos. It took me many years before I began to wholeheartedly accept being a mom as my very rewarding full-time job.. and I would not have it any other way! It’s been quite a journey, with more downs than ups, and I’m happy to be on this path in life Alhamdulilah (All Praise is due to Allah).
