Grateful for my Parents

I was born to the most loving parents anyone can wish for. They loved me unconditionally from the day I was born, even before I was born. They are the main reason behind my success. They have been there for me every step of the way.
I don’t know where I should start. They have been a great and inspiring role model for me. My mom and Dad gave me the most beautiful name; “Khadija” is the name of the first Prophet’s Wife and a very beautiful name. Forever will I be grateful for this noble name. They invested in my education and made sure I entered the best kindergarten and school they could afford. Early on, my love for language has been quite evident and thankfully they did all they could to nurture it. I was enrolled in advanced English language courses (apart from my English language school), French courses and even arts and crafts courses. My father would opt for anything that would polish my skills. He trusted my choice of university when I said I would go on to study English Language and Literature.
When I was thirteen with already a few attempts at poetry, I applied for a Poetry Workshop at the bestselling English magazine in my country. My parents really encouraged me to go for it, and after the workshop I became part of the Poetry Club. They wholeheartedly agreed to send me to another city every month – sometimes even twice a month – for the meeting at this monthly magazine. It is in my parents’ warm, loving home that I always got inspiration to create amazing poems and short stories.
Another thing I’ll ever be thankful to my father for is this website on which you’re reading this right now. He bought this domain name long before I was able to produce a decent piece of writing, yet he believed I would make him proud when I grow up to be a writer. When I was young, he occasionally told me that he reserved the website with my exact name “khadiga.com“. As reluctant and busy as I am, he would give me slow but sure doses of motivation to pursue my passion and write, until I am almost 30 now and hesitantly using this website. I owe him so much for allowing me this wonderful space to do something I love: express myself through writing.
Words fall short whenever I try to express my deep feelings of gratitude towards my caring parents. All I can say is I thrive because of their ongoing flow of duaa (prayers) for me and I hope I will always live up to their expectations of me. I can never pay them back but all I can do is to fervently pray for them everyday I live.
Please make a prayer for them that Allah protects and blesses them.
